Blog. October 12th, 2009I have added a few new items to the site this evening, and hope to update more in the next couple of days.
Tonight, I’ve added a clip of a recent appearance on PBS’s World Focus to the TV & Radio page. I also decided that the various “selected” pieces of writing on the Print page had been up for too long. So, in the opinion section, I have added a couple of pieces from recent months: the Irish Times article on Irish America that kicked off something of a furor during the summer, and an earlier piece, for the same newspaper, that was written to coincide with Barack Obama’s 100th day in the White House. I’ve also added my Irish Independent article from the funeral of Senator Edward Kennedy, under the “reportage” heading.
Also: After a lot of very enjoyable appearances at book festivals and other events in the U.S, UK, and Ireland, I think I’ve promoted Redemption Song as much as decency allows! So here is as good a place as any to thank all those involved in the following events:
U.S.
Hue-Man Bookstore Reading, Harlem, NYC
Arkansas Literary Festival, Little Rock, AR
Ann Arbor Book Festival, MI
Decatur Book Festival, GA
Fall for the Book Festival, Fairfax, VA
BRITAIN
Scarborough Literary Festival
Cambridge Wordfest
IRELAND
Dublin Book Festival
Northern Bank/Ulster Museum Lecture Series (Waterfront Hall, Belfast).
Galway Arts Festival
Aspects Irish Literature Festival, Bangor, Co. Down
The biggest thanks of all, of course, is due to those of you who turned up at the events, or who helped the book along in all sorts of other ways. It was very gratifying that the first edition sold out its print run so fast and that the whole project was such a big success. I appreciate all the support very much!
